"Babymooning" in the Outer Banks!

I honestly had never heard of a "babymoon" until two or three years ago, but their trendiness seems to be on the rise! I think for some great reasons, too. Our babymoon to the Outer Banks totally helped us feel more relaxed and relationally ready to welcome our son into the world in the next couple of weeks!
My parents had gifted us a night at the Sanderling Resort in Duck, NC (ironically before they knew we were pregnant!) so we purposefully saved it for 8 weeks before the baby's due date.
The Outer Banks was the perfect place to go, too, because it was only 1.5-2 hours away from us. It meant we got more time at our destination (instead of spending so much time traveling to/from) and it didn't require a ton of planning.

Instead of going straight to the Sanderling in Duck, we spent our first night at an Inn nearby so that we could wake up and head straight to the resort. We meandered around and found some really fun things happening there... including these gigantic kites at Jockey's Ridge!
Not to mention the farmer's markets and the gourmet popcorn store (we are such suckers for popcorn)
That night we ate at Basnight's Lone Cedar Cafe right on the water. Jon had eaten there before and swears by their she crab soup! It really was a cool place. The atmosphere is super "come as you are," and there are really pretty gardens outside to walk around.
The next morning we headed straight for Duck. The resort is absolutely amazing... and they even upgraded our room without extra cost just so we could check in sooner and head to the beach!
(Where I proceeded to get a virgin "mocktail" and balance it on my belly๐Ÿ˜…)
Everywhere we went was full of southern, coastal charm... totally our kind of style for relaxing.
We packed our day full of being at the beach and snoozing by the adult pool (just because we still can๐Ÿ˜€)
Fireside s'mores that night!

It really was the perfect way to enter into this new season of parenthood, feeling like we were able to connect before our lives go through such a crazy transition! I now recommend babymoons to everyone ๐Ÿ˜„
Where would you go for your babymoon?
Are you a fan like I am?
